OMG, just booked a timeshare week at Christmas and got the shock of my life when I checked Orbitz. Any ideas for cheaper fares from Seattle? Thanks...
Airfare Sticker Shock!
Southwest has flights that go from SEA to MCO. They do not have there prices for the week of Christmas yet, but the first week of December is showing a round trip price of $343.70 which I don%26#39;t think is to awful. Go on there website and download the ding program. You can grab some great prices.
I also looked on Travel Worm.. Round trip from SEA to MCO for that week is $414.00.
How much do you usually pay for airfare?

I agree, I have been watching rates from Las Vegas, they are high!! I flew a few years ago on southwest and it was 199.00 round trip, now they want around 360.00. I really have no choice because I already have a prepaid wdw trip. I have been told it is because I am travelling in November, I will be there the 2 - 10 I don%26#39;t think they should have holiday rates going. oh well.
good luck.
I guess I am a bit out of touch. We are flying into Las Vegas at the end of July and our round trip was $380.00.pp I thought that was a great price compared to the $500-$600 I was seeing on other web sites. Most airlines have increased fares due to gas prices. Dont know why jet fuel is included, but airlines will get you anyway they can.
Thanks. We don%26#39;t usually travel to Orlando so we don%26#39;t know what to pay. I was seeing $500-700 on Orbitz. Ridiculous. Good advice re: Southwest. I will download Ding! and see what happens. (Love that commercial where the woman dumps her lasagna on the floor in front of her company and goes running when her computer ';dings';....LOL...that%26#39;ll be me!)
check out delta.com, that is where we have gotten the best rates! earlier today the round trip in sept was $221.00 and then I think it was $218.00.
Why should the prices be so surprising? Look at the price of oil right now, and the fact that Mid-East is in a mess. Jets burn fuel, and most airlines have aging fleets, which means they%26#39;re not very fuel-efficient. Top it off with rising labor costs, the maintenance costs of running an older fleet, horrendous debt, and it%26#39;s no wonder most carriers are on the brink of bankruptcy.
To compare flight pricing to three years ago is ridiculous. What you should do is start looking at is the safety record of your carrier, and doing some homework to determine if they%26#39;ll still be in business when you actually intend to fly.
Remember when gas was posted for under $1.00 a gallon? Santa and the Tooth Fairy were flying around at about the same time ...Funny, I don%26#39;t see any of them anymore.
You%26#39;re absolutely right, WestJetter. Just blowing off a little steam while trying to get feedback on booking the best fare.
Hi, you might try Kayak.com - I often find good fares there. Right now the cheapest ticket to Zurich in Feb is on cheaptickets.com - give them a try. Also, I find great fares on aa.com using the option of ';all carriers'; and check by fare. We are going from Anchorage in October and back in early June the fares jumped nearly $100 per seat overnight - literally, overnight. Boy was I kicking myself! Oh, well - we%26#39;re still well under $600 per seat so I guess I should be happy, huh? Hope this helps.
