We had a good time! Only thing I was disappointed in was that the beach was FULL of seaweed..the hard dried up feeling kind that wraps around your ankles. The waves were awesome..we were yellow flagged all weekend and I even was knocked down a dew times! My husband went way out and the seaweed was not so bad however he got caught up in a rip tide but was ok. We ate at Fudpucker%26#39;s, and the kids and my husband loved their food. I got the Fud Spud because I love shrimp, but it tasted like some cheap fishy frozen shrinp you get from a lean cuisine or something. We ate at TGI Friday%26#39;s because we don%26#39;t have one here in Mississippi and I have to say it was delicious and not so bad priced. Fudpucker%26#39;s was 50.00 and TGI Friday%26#39;s was 30.00. We went to Wing%26#39;s souvenier shop, Alvin%26#39;s Island, and Walmart. Walmart was just as much as the shops. My kids wanted keychains and they were 3.97 at Walmart but only 99 cents at the shops. We stayed at Best Western in room 420. Our room had the number taped on with the number written on a piece of paper. The room was nice, but it was hard to cool down. Our tub had mildew as well...kind of disappointed, but all in all the room was big, everything from an iron and ironing board, fridge, microwave, coffee pot, and hair dryer as well as drying racks were in the room. That was very cool. The beach is a lot easier to manage when I was 15, but seeing my kids think of it as the best thing their little eyes have ever seen was well worth the long trip. We are going to Traverse City Michigan next year!
Just got back from Ft Walton
glad you enjoyed your trip.
Just got back from Ft Walton
It%26#39;s always fun to see things thru your children%26#39;s eyes :-)
Would you mind sharing what your nightly rate was at the Best Western?
Thanks.
I hope your kids never forget the beach. When I was young that was my favorite vacation memory. I appreciate it more every year. For me there%26#39;s nothing more beautiful or relaxing than the ocean. The first year we took our kids, my youngest son was 6. The first day we got there it was later in the day and the flags were down. He got caught in a rip tide, then I was out there trying to get him. Then my husband came out. So we all 3 were out there and couldn%26#39;t get back. Thank God we had a big friend that was with us and he came out and pulled us out of it. You really have to respect water of any kind. But that hasn%26#39;t stopped us from going. This past June was our 7th year straight. Hopefully we%26#39;ll make an 8 next year. For me it%26#39;s paradise.
SDBounds,
hi! Our room rate was 169.00 per night plus the 10% tax. I noticed when we checked in that they were charging the same type of room to a group of 3 women for 229.00 per night, so it%26#39;s best to book online than in person!
Thanks for the info. I was interested in knowing a hotel price compared to condo prices.
