Cruisin' to the Keys - ';Atlanticat';???

Can anyone give me some feedback on the Atlanticat boat that goes from Fort Myers to Key West? I have looked at the website for Key West Express but just wanted to know if anyone has travelled this route and how they liked or disliked it for the money.

Thank you!

One more thing....I have read that they may cancel the boat ride if ';severe weather'; happens but if we book in advance then how do we get our money back? Will they credit our credit cards or give us a voucher for next time? I probably would want a refund as I may not have another chance to go on this cruise......anybody know?

Cruisin' to the Keys - ';Atlanticat';???

I have been on ';the key west express'; twice and i loved it. however, it is alot of traveling in one day and i would have preferred to stay at least one night in key west if i had the time. i would have liked a little more time in the keys. if i ever go again, i will book a hotel in key west for one night. either way it beats driving!! i dont know anything about cancelled trips due to bad weather.

We went to Key West in April 2005 from Ft. Myers on the Key West Express and had a good experience. Much faster than driving and we didn%26#39;t want to have a car at Key West anyway. It may take a longer time than they estimate, depending on weather and wind direction. Also, even though you are booked to return on a certain day, if the weather doesn%26#39;t permit, the boat doesn%26#39;t come to take you back, so you may have to spend an extra day (or more) until the weather permits. We were flexible, so it didn%26#39;t matter, and we would use Key West Express again.

Key West Express has a new, just three week old Cat leaving Ft. Myers daily. It accomodates 511 travelers. Four of us traveled down to Key West on Sunday, 05-14. A truly awesome boat, and ride, down. All service and personnel were gracious and efficient. Approximately half capacity...

We were daytrippin%26#39;. The ride back was close to miserable--on the same boat. A huge group of ';overnighters'; joined us for the return to Ft. Myers. This trip was at capacity. Luggage everywhere. Seating was at a premium because rude travelers can be found everywhere, even leaving the Conch Republic. Luggage on lounges and chairs that didn%26#39;t find their owners until disembarcation at Ft. Myers. Crew was truly stressed by the crush of demanding travelers. This really took the glow off the trip for me.

Would I make the same trip again? Probably. But I%26#39;d make sure I was first on the boat for the return to Ft. Myers.

Just traveled on the new Cat and it really is nice .. I would defintely do it again.

A tip for when you are traveling back to FMB .. you can take your luggage to the boat at 1PM. I believe at 3PM you can check in (we checked in about 4PM) and they letter your ticket. We were in group A which was first to board the boat.

there is no control over the weather so please have a flexible schedule, extra $$ and be on beach time! The boat can%26#39;t guarantee passage either way due to weather, but I do know that passengers ';stuck'; love it. We are in hurricane season so plan accordingly. They will refund or credit for Key West Express. Ask them to recommend motels and ask for a coupon...they do that out of the Ft. Myers Beach port.
