help please

Hi guys,

This is my 1st post on this site, so am hoping I am doing it right. I am tring to plan a trip to the Keys in September, can any one please answer me a couple of questions 1) does anyone know where i can rent a villa on the Keys, most places I have come across are just in Orlando, 2) Does the Keys have problems with hurricanes in September?

Many Thanks

help please

Yes, you can rent a villa, although most people down here don%26#39;t call them that, which might be way you%26#39;re having trouble finding references to it. We call them condos, and you can find ones for rent throughout the Keys. Single-family homes are also an option, particularly in parts of the Lower Keys where we don%26#39;t have condos.

www.vrbo.com (vacation rentals by owner) is a good web site to start with. I%26#39;m sure someone else will chip in with the others, which escape me right now.

And yes, it%26#39;s possible we%26#39;ll have a hurricane in September. It is, historically, the busiest month for hurricane activity.

help please

oh thank you for that Kitty, what month would you recommend as the best to travel down there, as from your comments I dont particulary think September is a wise move!

During the winter months here in MN (November - March) we have a much greater chance of a snowstorm. Just as in the gulf and atlantic, there is a much greater chance of hurricanes from June through November.

There is no guranty that there will or will not be a huricanne, it%26#39;s just that there is a better chance of one during the season. You could some in Sept, and have some great weather, and you could go and get chased out.

If you have a choice of when you can go, I think I%26#39;d shoose some other time, maybe December - May.

Hurricane season is a nice time to travel here, assuming there are no actual hurricanes. :) The prices are good, the crowds are small, and you%26#39;ll find us at our laidback best. That said, things might be too slow for you. November and December are better bets -- there%26#39;s more going on, the weather is better, and the prices and crowds are still manageable.
