Sheraton Vistana Resort

Has any stayed at the Sheraton Vistana Resort? If so, what%26#39;s your opinion?

Sheraton Vistana Resort

We (6 adults) stayed at the SVR last September. We had two apartments (my husband and I had a 1 bedroom apartment whilst the younger ones shared a two bedroomed one).

The apartments were in the Cascade area and were kept very clean during the eleven days we were there (housekeeping was part of our package with Virgin Holidays).

I don%26#39;t think we could fault the whole time there. The swimming pool/gym/bar/bar food, were all used a lot and staff were really friendly.

The location is ideal for many areas, with a really good restaurant (Brannegans, I think) next to the main entrance. A supermarket within walking distance and only a few minutes drive to Lake Beuna Vista, or the Premium shopping outlets. Disney Downtown was not far away and also you could get through to I.Drive without any hassle.

You do get phone calls from Reception regarding timeshare, but if you tell them you are not interested then the reception will not bother you.

We would certainly go back there again.

Thanks for your help. We were looking at staying inside WDW but for 4 adults and 1 child, the price for a place big enough for all of us seems a bit much. I%26#39;d rather spend my money on something besides a room to sleep in. I%26#39;m trying to find someplace decent, with enough space and doesn%26#39;t cost ';an arm and a leg';. The SVR seems to fit the bill.

I have looked at this place as well. It looks pretty nice. Would like to hear more opinions. How far is it?

ccnanny, have you checked the user reviews on TA for the resort?

Yes, I%26#39;ve checked the TA reviews. There are quite a few of them. I figured posting my own question would give me a chance to ask questions if I had any. Thanks.

We stayed at the Sheraton Vistana Resort last week. We stayed in a Two bed apartment in Cascades. The whole family couldnt fault the place. House keeping was fantastic, the apartment was massive, spotlessly clean %26amp; the pool areas were fantastic. Our only complaint was the service at the pool bars was very slow. To say the Americans invented fast food, they should take some hints from the Spanish as to how to run a pool bar! You could drive to the North end of I Drive in Ten minutes if you took the I 4 or in Twenty five minutes if you took the scenic route past Sea World, Mercado Etc. Disney was no more than Five minutes to the welcome sign %26amp; a taxi to Downtown Disney cost $12.00. We wouldnt hesitate to stay there again 7 would recommend this resort to anyone.

We stayed for a week in the Cascades in a two bedroom in 2003 and again in 2004 (so my review is a little dated). The resort and units in our opinion were lovely (no complaints whatsoever). We%26#39;d highly recommend the Cascades section. (When we were there, this was the newest section.) We liked the pools, hots tubs, the fact that you could eat on site or get room service which we did twice as we were exhausted from a fun/busy theme park day. You could rent old fashioned pedal carts and big float toys -- a huge hit with our son who was seven during our first visit and eight during our second. I also belong to a time share users group, and this resort always receives very high rating. (This resort has 352 time share user group ratings, and an average rating of 8.58/10, very high -- especially given the number of people who have sent in ratings.) I haven%26#39;t read any unfavorable reviews when individuals have stayed in the Cascades section. In general, people like the other sections too, but I have heard complaints about worn, dated furniture, older sections not being as nice as other condos where people have stayed. That%26#39;s why on both visits we requested the Cascades. Some of worn furniture, dated furniture situations may have been rectified as all timeshares do periodic refurbishing and furniture updates. I don%26#39;t have that knowledge about maintenance/update activities at this resortt, however, as I%26#39;m not an owner. In general, though, I give the resort a thumbs up and am not alone in my opinion.

It all depends on where you are located. I have never read a bad review about the Cascades section, however you will probably not be put there if you are not an owner. Beware of the older sections, specifically where they put us last week, Fountains. And we were specifically told (this is verbatim and I remember because I was a bit taken aback that this was the best answer they could give) ';It wouldn%26#39;t be fair to the owners, would it, if we put renters in the new sections?'; VERY poor service. You can read my review under Never Again for this resort, it%26#39;s a new review.

Just to add - we were given a full refund and the folks at Starwood were appalled at the service we received. Our complaint is SO much more about the service than the actual bugs and cookies.

So, I%26#39;d say you are taking your chances with the service - it may be great, and then again, it may not.

Actually the bit about only putting owners in the Cascades section is not true. I%26#39;ve read several reviews of this place from Brits who travelled as part of a Virgin holiday package and were placed in the Cascades section - I think someone spun you a line on that one!
