Quiet condos?

Continuing my quest re accomodation next Easter, Could anyone recommend a condo for two adults in a quiet, up market (ish) adult bias place on Sanibel? Wanted for about 17 days. Punto something was recommended - what do you think?

Quiet condos?

Pointe Santo? Very large complex and plenty of kids, they even run a kids program there. What you%26#39;ll want is a small, upscale complex. Sanaya and Sandpiper West [only 6 units] - not to be confused with Sandpiper Beach - are where I%26#39;d start. GrandmaMac recommends the Sanaya and has stayed there. I have looked at Sandpiper West but not stayed.

Also, take a look at Captiva Island. Up there, there are no on beach condos BUT there are some that are Gulfside with a lane between them and the beach and also some that are Bayfront and a short stroll from the beach. Look at Captiva Shores [unit 7A is beach front and beautiful], Hide-a-way, Sunset Captiva [free-standing houses with community pool on the Gulf, no streets to cross, but only a few houses directly on the Gulf] and naturally, South Seas Resort which will be fully operational by then - but it will have LOTS of kids. I know you wanted a pool, but check ot Jensen%26#39;s [www.jensens-captiva.com] cottages Gulf front. Very nice!

For quiet, avoid Sundial, Pointe Santo, Casa Ybel, Loggerhead Cay, Sanddollar, Sandpiper Beach, and Compass Point. Also Blind Pass, which is off the beach. All are larger complexes and lots of families. Stick with small places.

I know they%26#39;re pricey, but a private home on Captiva might laso be a solution. Leaping Lizard, Sea of Green, Captiva Cutie. In al fairness, a 1 month rental on Sanibel is often more cost effective than a house on Captiva, but the ones above are on a private lane and a short stroll down the lane to the beach - no roads to cross.

Sue knows all the condo complexes on Sanibel better than I do and I hope she can give you some more names to look at.

Try, www.royalshell.com, www.resortquest.com and as always, visit www.sanibel-captiva.org and use their Where to Stay feature to find both direct from owner and agency rentals. I normally recommend www.VRBO.com as well but you%26#39;ll find most of the listing are for larger condo complexes.

Take a look at www.cottages-to-castles.com and click on Cottages. Worth a look.

Quiet condos?

If you want a very private vacation spot I think Sayana is a great choice too, but since you are staying 17 nights Junonia might be a good complex as well. It has only 8 units and it has a 2 week minimum. All of the units are gulf front.

Sand Point (45UNITS)and Kings Crown(54) are larger complexes but fairly quiet. Pine Cove (16) and White Sands (14) are smaller and more private. All located on West Gulf Drive . Good Luck.

Sue, Is that you?

Thank you - but no - Sue is on vacation - will return next week.

Thanks - I missed her input and I%26#39;m glad to have a condo knowledgable person answering.

Thankyou so much for your advice. We have always stayed at the Island Inn, which has been brilliant, but fancied a change. We don%26#39;t fancy Captiva as we enjoy Sanibel%26#39;s surroundings more, but will defintely look into your advice.

Since you%26#39;ve been on the quiet West Gulf, I%26#39;d stick with the small condo complexes along there or maybe Ocean%26#39;s Reach. I think you%26#39;d find Middle Gulf and most of the East End complexes and beach areas rather corwded. Folks who were on Tarpon Beach, next to Pointe Santo, said the beach was busy even off season. I%26#39;ve visited that beach and there were always lots of folks, so further down West Gulf would probably be better for you.
