Don Pedro / Palm Island

Has anyone stayed on Palm Island? We are going next week for a family reunion and would appreciate any info. I know that you have to take a ferry to get to the island but is there anything to do on the island other than using the beaches?

TIA.

Don Pedro / Palm Island

We%26#39;ve been to Palm Isalnd, two years ago at the end of October. It is very relaxing and beautiful, we rented a house along the canal with a dock and did a little fishing. There really isnt much to do other than the usually beach thing, I will tell you that you will have the beach to yourselves, very seculded. One of the reasons is the ferry is so expensive to go across,I think it was like 50.00, not a lot of day seekers go, mostly just residence. I dont know if you are renting a house or you have family that has a house there, just make sure that the ferry trip is included in the price. The funny thing is the ferry that takes you across is withing a brisk swimming distance. The only commercial establishment that I am aware of is the Palm Island Resort, they have a good restaurant there called the Rum Barrell,we had lunch and drinks there and it was nice, they have a small little store with supplies. On the weekends they have a fellow they call The Red Beard Pirate';, he is entertaining and does a little show in the evenings. This is a very layed back island, true Florida nature, lots of birds and vegitation. Hope you enjoy your trip. Oh and one of the awesome things to me was how dark it is at night, there are no street lights so if you can go out on a bright night the stars are incredible.
