Has anyone that vacations or lives in the Daytona area gone to the Sterling Casino at Port Canaveral? Also if you know anything about taking the bus down from one of the places they pick up in the Daytona area. I have seached this forum and have some answers and visited the website, would just like some firsthand information please! Thanks.
Sterling casino
The Sterling Casino is very nice and a very good time. I loved it. Have been numerous times. However, I would not go on the Sun Cruz Casino in Daytona Beach.
Sterling casino
Thanks, could you give me more info on what type of slots they have, any nickels or pennies? What are table min. for Black Jack?
We started to go on Sun Cruz got so far as being on the boat, did not like the looks of it. Got off when they told us the free buffet they advertised was not free. Staff was rude. Never again!
So anyone else have any info that have been on Sterling please let me know. We may go next week. Thanks.
My husband and myself go on the casino ships out of Port Canaveral about twice a month. Personally, I prefer the Sun Cruz in Canaveral due to it being less smoky and cleaner. The Sterling is a larger vessel and has the penny/nickle/dime/quarter slots, etc... as to table games, the Sun Cruz and Sterling both offer $5.00 craps, and sometimes a table will be $10.00 minimum. Blackjack has different dominations available. The buffet on the Sterling can be nasty - there are too many hands touching the utensils and the food sits out the entire trip. On the Sun Cruz you can eventually qualify for a free buffet and it is open until 8:30. We usually stop and eat at a place called Fishlips that is at the entry to the Sun Cruz, the food is qood and usually the service is good. The local Sun Cruz in Ponce Inlet is a last resort, on Friday day cruises you can play $1.00 craps and $1.00 roulette, $2.00 blackjack. I don%26#39;t prefer this boat, as it is small and too many people get sick on it and it is not fun seeing people ill - and it is hard to not need the bathroom during a 5 hour venture!!! When it comes to the buses that depart from varying areas, I have heard from several people who frequent via the buses that it is not bad. The Canaveral boats are the closest thing to Vegas, however, it is not Vegas, lol. We fly to vegas about 4 times a year - but, just for something close by Canaveral is nice. I hope this helps!
I have the opposite view of the above post. I also go at least once a month and prefer Sterling over Sun Cruise. The Sun Cruise is much smaller and you really felt the motion of the ship. To be honest, the food on both is not very good. We always eat before we go.
I agree that Sun Cruise is cleaner, quieter, and less smokey.
The reason I like Sterling is because it is much bigger. More tables, more slots, a section where you can get a seated massage, etc. The table limits on the weekend are higher then weekdays. I love Let It Ride and Craps. It was a $10.00 minimum went we went the beginning of July. I also play the slots. I usually bring about $100.00, and usually walk away with money because of the slots.
One word of warning. If you run out of money and do not want to hit the ATM, you will be bored to death! The bands are not very good, and sitting outside staring at nothing gets old quick.
Yes, the limits can vary - my husband is the craps player, I am the slot player - he thinks the slots as atm%26#39;s to me, I have yet to leave money behind, and I do limit my on board monies to $100.00. I also agree the sterling is a much larger vessel and is less rocky. The negative I find on the sterling also is that many people hog the machines next to them and when they run out of money they are practically sleeping, and some people actually are sleeping on them. Management has yet to address this issue, as they do claim they have the right to limit one slot per player. The sun cruz finally has the massage chairs, but, after seeing a lady with some nasty brown stuff on the back of her skirt sit in the chair I decided that it was not for me. You are right, the food on both boats is not good, but, overall, I%26#39;d take the cheesy buffet over the sandwich zone on the sterling if we were to eat on there. Game selection is way better on Sterling... when you can get the machine you want to play. I also agree, don%26#39;t go to the ATM, if you lost already, you will only lose more, as people pay a fee just to get their money, and usually they give it back. Like I said, Vegas is for us! Oh, on the sun cruz we get comps, as of this date we have yet to get any rewards from the sterling - when it comes to the bands, yikes, they should just put on the radio! Maybe someday Mr. Bush or whoever is our next governor will let us have real gaming on land. We frequent the Hard Rock in Tampa, and they seem to have loosened up, but the choice is slots or poker only and it is way smokey - they comp us extremely well and I have always walked away a winner. My husband won over $700 last week when we were there, and the time prior I won $1,620.00 on my third spin on a triple diamond. That money plus more went home with me! Now I have to go to the dog track and look for losing tickets and losing lotto tickets to offset my winnings, don%26#39;t care for uncle sam to get what I won! If you go on either, just go have fun... and win!
Thanks so much Karen and Aries, we are still debating whether or not to go. We have casino boats in our home area that don%26#39;t leave the dock which we enjoy a couple of times a year.
We%26#39;ve been to Vegas 5 times and I just got back from a girls trip iin late May. Nothing compares to Vegas! Just thought we%26#39;d like a boat ride and a little gambling could be an added plus if I don%26#39;t get carried away. We will take only a certain amount and plan on having fun. If we come back with money that is great, if not, well we had a good time. Thanks again for info I have been looking for!
