Suggestions for best moderate hotels in Disney World

Will be going to WDW November 20-25,2006. Have not visited WDW since 2000. Would like to know which moderate WDW hotels would be the best choice. Travel group conist of five adult women age 26-56. Looking for two rooms. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Suggestions for best moderate hotels in Disney World

There are quite a few threads about this a page or two back. I only listed the moderate property resorts. Here is my two cents...

Disney%26#39;s Caribbean Beach Resort-Did not enjoy.

Checked out early. Lots of kids, older hotel, away from it all

Disney%26#39;s Coronado Springs Resort-

Receives mixed reviews. Caters to the business traveler. Could be a good choice for five adult women. I have never stayed there, but know a few who have. They had no complaints.

***The two below hotels have boat access to Downtown Disney. Pleasure Island, Restaurants, etc.

Disney%26#39;s Port Orleans Resort French Quarter-

My personal favorite. Port Orleans French Quarter is smaller then Riverside. Rooms are nice. Bus service was fine. Most of the time the bus was empty and we had no problem getting transportation.

My only complaint is the aggressive birds that kept hitting me and trying to steal my food.

Disney%26#39;s Port Orleans Resort Riverside-Stayed in June. Beautiful grounds. VERY large resort. Nice rooms and decor. Great breakfast. Pretty to walk around, rent bikes, boats etc. However, be prepared to walk, walk, walk. Rooms are very far away. We had trouble with the bus after the parks closed. They were always packed and again, it%26#39;s a long walk back to the rooms.

Hope this helps.

Here are some links for photos of each of the resorts - this might help with your decision:

We stayed in Port Orleans Riverside this last January and I absolutely loved it. The grounds were gorgeous and the atmosphere was serene. We were in Magnolia Terrace which was a great building for us - an easy walk over the bridge and around the pool to go to the food court. But we could just walk through the back parking lot to the bus stops. The boats to Downtown Disney are a nice plus.

I don%26#39;t prefer French Quarter but I have a mask / harlequin phobia so my opinion probably is not relevant to anyone else.

Caribbean Beach is pretty but really spread out.

Coranado Springs looks great - I plan to try that next.

Our favorite moderate is Port Orleans Riverside. It has a very relaxed feel, beautiful grounds, and a great boat launch to Downtown Disney.

My favorite moderate resort is the Port Orleans Riverside also. Beautiful grounds and a quick boat ride to Downtown Disney.

Port Orleans Riverside.

Stayed in Jan, and would return in a flash. You may want to ask for rooms near the pool, such as ';Alligator Bayou';.Disney always does their best to work with you.

the pool and spa area is beautiful, and right next to the bar, which has a nice big wrap around porch with tables, in case your sun turns to rain. Want to start the day in style? Get your coffee, and start your day in the spa getting all loosey goosey. You%26#39;ll be relaxed and ready for the footwork ahead. I also used it at nite for the ';after Epcot leg aches.'; The food court is very nice, and they did not charge me for my fridge. I bought fruits and other lite breakfast things at nite, and enjoyed breakfast in bed,and extra coffee at the pool. It really is nice to star the day this way, and the buses are less crowded late morning. Oh I just LOVE to play social director over the web:+)..Have a great time ladies!!!!

We have stayed at Carribean Beach and Coronado Springs. I liked Coronado Springs the best. Great transportation. Grounds are lovely. Pool is never crowded as there are always conventions going on. Less kids there because of that.

The food court had great food as well. Lots of choices and more than we could eat. You can share entres here and have plenty of food.

I traveled with my husband and no kids this past June and we had a great time.

I think you will enjoy any of the moderates. Just my $.02!

Qops, almost forgot. The sinks and vanities are separate from the tub and the facilites. his will mean a lot with a party of or 3 in one room. Irons and ironing boards also, and decent hairdryers.I loved my room!

I have only stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside. For Moderate resort I have no justifiable complains. If this is where you choose to stay, I would request the Magnolia section. I requested the Oak Manor Building and that was an excellent choice. Oak Manor had its own small pool and a laundry mat. Right across our bridge is the main lobby, the marina with boats and bicycle rentals, all the food courts, and their restaurant - Boatwrights (I believe that is its name!) I did not eat there but only once for breakfast and the food was god and fairly priced. So much so, I did not use my dining card. I do not believe there is a better location. Behind the marina is the BIG pool. We caught the bus in front of the lobby. I can see how some of the other sections would require walking as it is so largely spread out.

However, if I stay at another moderate resort next time - I would choose French Quarter. Its theme is more lively, there are musicians at times. It is also small and more manageable.

both Riverside and French Quarter guests can share the recreation areas.

In any event, thee two were nice

Another vote for Port Orleans, either Riverside or F.Q., but I love the theming of the Riverside section better personally.

Hi.

Just to add my two cents. I would also choose the Port Orleans over the Caribbean Beach. I have also stayed at the All Star resorts still on the grounds but a little further away and these are ok but do not compare to the above mentioned hotels.

Also you may want to get adjoining rooms, which would make sense so you may want to check around to see which hotel offers that.

I would get as much information and do as much research as possible and get together before the trip for fun nights of plannng what it is you wish to see and do while you are there. We have almost as much fun planning our trips there as being there. You can also send away for tapes from WDW that give insights into what is there. I would highly recommend the fireworks at Epcot...it is not to be missed and the most amazing spectacular sight I have ever witnessed!

One last tip.....plan your meals too...where to lunch and dine in evenings...there are so many fabulous restaurants...some of which are almost attractions themselves.

Have fun!!
