This topic may be elsewhere but I was unable to find it. We are heading to Destin for the first time in two weeks. We rented an apartment within a home in Emerald Waters Village thinking it was in Destin but we got the directions, it is a Miramar Beach addy. I try to look up detailed maps of Destin area and don%26#39;t have too much luck-just general stuff. To me, Miramar looks far from Destin, not far but not right in the heart of things either. We have never been so I am not sure about the distance and if anything is within walking distance and if so what would that be? I just hope I made the right decision on where to stay~~~because we are so excited about the trip!!!
miramar beach
meluwood, Miramar Beach is a very nice place to stay. It%26#39;s not as crowded, but it is not within walking distance to Destin proper. It is only a short drive. Check out Destin%26#39;s community walk site http://www.communitywalk.com/map/2872.
This should help.
miramar beach
Miramar Beach is in Walton County. That is why you can%26#39;t find it on Detailed maps.
Go to this map.

Look for Bad A** Coffee Company. To the west of that you will see Holiday Road. Emerald Waters is in that vicinity.
I can%26#39;t place a mark on the map for some reason.
Basically, you really need a car anywhere you stay in Destin. What type of activities are you looking for so someone can recommend a place to stay close by?
Meluwood, you have made the right choice believe me.Miramar Beach is the best.Miramar starts just east of the Mid-Bay bridge at Destin Commons.
Bluesurfman - Miramar Beach starts a mile east of the Mid-Bay Bridge.
The area at the Mid-Bay Bridge until the Walton County line (1 mile east) is called Crystal Beach.
The location of this development is about 4 miles east of the Mid Bay Bridge.
Semco1,what%26#39;s the name of that sorry Mexican restaurant behind Costa Vista?Worst meal I ever had in Destin.
Probably Cancun%26#39;s. You have a pretty good description of the food.
Thanks for the map-this is helping me to understand the area better. I was just wondering if things were like they are in some touristy towns-where lots of activities are within walking distance...like a ';strip';. I guess that is what I was picturing for Destin. You%26#39;ll have been great help and I can%26#39;t wait to get there.
Meluwood, each little area within the bigger Destin area in general has these little strip places where there is touristy stuff...lots of shops, stores, restaurants and mini golf places. We love both Crystal Beach and Miramar Beach, right around the area that you are staying. You%26#39;ll be happy with the area...Hi Semco1!! Only 4 weeks til we return to the Emerald Coast!
Hi HPIfan. Building is still standing. EMPTY......
Want to get together for a cocktail?
meluwood
We always stay in the Crystal Beach/Miramar Beach area of Scenic 98. Trust me (and everybody else on this forum)....you%26#39;ll love it.
Semco and Bluesurfman: glad you mentioned Cancuns. We%26#39;re staying at Costa Vista in August and I probably would have tried out the restaurant since it%26#39;s so close (and I love good chile relleno every now and then). I%26#39;ll be sure to steer clear of the joint.
Cheers
