Help with Siesta Key rental

I know I am on the Sanibel forum but we are on the potential run from red tide on Sanibel. This forum is more active than the siesta key one so was looking for help. Thanks

Help with Siesta Key rental

What specific information are you seeking tripplanner? Have you determined that Siesta Key is red tide free and decided to go there?

If so, and if you go to www.vrbo.com you will find that the search for Siesta Key condos is set up differently on that site than it is for Sanibel Island. They have their listings categorized by the actual condo complexes.

Siesta Key is NOT Sanibel...entirely different feel, but still a nice vacation spot. If you go there, make sure the condo you rent is on Crescent Beach (sometimes referred to as Siesta Beach). Turtle Beach at the South end of the island does not have the white quartz sand for which Siesta Key is renowned.

Our favorites (we vacationed there for years before finding Sanibel)...Siesta Dunes. You can find rentals at the home site:

www.siestadunes.com and also from owners on vrbo. Be sure you are negotiating for a Gulf View condo and not a Garden View accommodation if you want to be able to see the water.

Hope this helps a bit and good luck with your search. Sorry that ';things'; worked out this way, but I%26#39;m sure you will have a good time in another way on Siesta Key and Sarasota area.

According to their availability calendar, this Gulf View unit at Siesta Dunes is available for the dates of your trip.

Other places we have enjoyed: Midnight Cove I (Gulf Side), Crescent Arms...but, as I mentioned previously, Siesta Dunes eventually became our regular home base.

Thanks so much. I just so hate not being able to go to Sanibel. I am checking these places out now.

I got a unit I could take at Crescent Arms for 1000 for 5 floor ocean view. I wonder if anyone knows how that would be.

Crescent Arms is on a beautiful stretch of Crescent Beach situated right next door to the huge Crystal Sands complex and midway between Siesta Dunes and Midnight Cove. It is a ';high rise'; building, (can%26#39;t recall exact number...maybe 8 or 10 floors I think) but many condos on Siesta Key are. I think 5th floor is about as high as I would want to go simply because I like to feel ';connected'; to the beach. View from your lanai should be great! You are within walking distance to a small shopping center with a market and some stores plus several restaurants. Overall, you ';should'; have a nice and convenient home base for your vacation at Crescent Arms.

Will be eager to hear your feedback when you return...pros and cons of Siesta vs. Sanibel so please share your thoughts. Have fun!

Thanks so much for your help---will report back when we return next week. Once again, I am sad we are not going to Sanibel !
